This is an exciting new appointment with City University London, School of Health Sciences. We are keen to make an appointment in the area of Food Policy. We are looking for someone to deliver research, education and impact activities of the highest quality, playing a key part in supporting the Centre in advancing its mission. The successful candidate will conduct research, teach and engage in impact activities and be committed to the vision and mission of the Centre. We are keen for this post to play a key role in building up new, impact-focused research programmes, and diversifying the educational offer of the Centre for Food Policy.
Lecturer (Education and Research)
Main Duties
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant research activities within the School and the outcomes of wider disciplinary, pedagogic and practice-based research, in order to inform evidence-based approaches to education.
- To undertake scholarship, conduct individual and, where appropriate, collaborative research in line with the University’s research strategy, develop a related publications record and internal/external profile and contribute to income-generation activities.
- To make a significant contribution to the educational activities of the School, in line with the University’s Education & Student Strategy, ensuring education is of high quality and professionally relevant.
- To undertake scholarly activities designed to enhance education
- To participate in activities related to enterprise, and (where relevant to the role) professional practice.
- To undertake administrative or management responsibilities and play a part as a member/leader of the wider academic community, as appropriate to an academic role at this level.
- To undertake other duties within the scope of the post, as reasonably requested by the Head of Department/Division/Faculty
Senior Lecturer / Reader (Education and Research)
Main Duties
- To develop a personal research portfolio and related publications record in line with the University’s research strategy and an expert reputation at national/international level. To generate research income and engage in or lead collaborative research, including where appropriate, cross and/or interdisciplinary research.
- To make a significant contribution to, and at senior level within this grade take a lead on, educational activities and educational development within the School, in line with the University’s Education & Student Strategy, and play an appropriate role at University level in ensuring that education is of high quality and professionally relevant.
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant research activities within the School and the outcomes of wider disciplinary, pedagogic and practice-based research, in order to inform evidence-based approaches to education.
- Make a significant contribution to activity for research and enterprise and the planning and management of such activities and (where relevant to the role) to sustain and develop value-adding links/engagement with professional practice.
- To lead, carry out and/or co-ordinate administrative and management activities and play a part as a member of the wider academic community, as appropriate to an academic role at this level.
- To undertake other duties within the scope of the post, as reasonably requested by the Head of Department/Division/Faculty.
