Northumbria University, Faculty of Health & Life Sciences, currently has a vacancy for an External Examiner within the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Well-Being for the Post Graduate Certificate Professional Social Work Practice Programme, commencing 1 August 2021.
The Programme provides post qualifying teaching to students from across the North East Local Authorities as well as local Health Trusts.
It would be preferred, though not essential, if the candidate had previous experience as an external examiner. You must have knowledge of post qualifying social work education and be currently registered with Social Work England.
The role will involve acting as an external examiner for 9 academic modules. These modules include an ASYE accreditation module, Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children modules (2 of each that are taught together), Law and Practice for Best Interest Assessors, Practice Education 1 and 2 and a Work Based Project module. Assessment is by means of assignments and /or portfolio.
The contract will commence on 1st August 2021 and run until 31st December 2025.
External examiners will be involved in approving assessment tasks and moderating samples of student work. An annual report will be required and you should be available to attend an exam board in June.
