The University of Bolton, School of Nursing and Midwifery, is seeking to appoint an external examiner for our BSc / PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programme The duties will include the review of the students’ academic work and Practice Assessment Documents plus visiting practice learning partners as required at least once a year as per Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements.

Examiners play a central role in the maintenance of the standards of the University’s awards and the currency of the curriculum. The duties will include the review of the students’ academic work and Practice Assessment Documents plus visiting practice learning partners as required at least once a year as per Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements. The successful candidate will be required to review and approve the assessment tasks and examination papers; review samples of student work on modules within the programme, including practice documents / visits; the endorsement of marks to confirm that the marks are an agreed, fully moderated and externally examined set of results; the submission of annual reports; attendance at appropriate boards of examiners and agreement to programme modifications.

External examiner appointments are typically for a period of four years and the appointment is for a start as soon as possible following approval by the University’s Education Committee and Senate. The applicant will require the relevant experience and knowledge of Post Registration nursing education hold a SCPHN qualifications and current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council is essential.
