The Department of Nursing, Midwifery & Health is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice & External Assessor for the Operating Department Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship, Standard ST0582. The postholder will be Lead Examiner for the programme and will moderate:

OD5015 Developing Evidence Informed Operating Department Practice
OD5016 Pathophysiology in Operating Department Practice
OD5017 Developing skills for Operating Department Practice
OD5018 Enhancing Skills for Perioperative Practice
OD6014 Advanced Operating Department Practice
OD6015 Integrating Evidence into Perioperative Practice Development
OD6016 Leadership & Management in Perioperative Practice
OD6017 Advanced Skills in Perioperative Practice
AC6763/AC7096 Inter-Professional Collaboration, Support & Supervision for Perioperative Practice

As external examiner you will be responsible for contributing to the quality assurance of the programme. You will be involved in approving assessment tasks, moderating student work, completion of an annual report and may be invited to attend examination boards. You may be asked to provide comments on proposed modifications & the development of new modules.

Applicants should hold appropriate professional registration & academic qualifications. It is preferable to have previous experience although support & guidance can be provided for those new to the role. Full course details & documentation will be provided on appointment.

  • For degree/higher apprenticeship programmes, please ensure your relevant occupational experience & professional body registrations are evident.
