Glasgow Caledonian University is seeking a replacement external examiner for the next academic year 2022/23 and would welcome expressions of interest from senior academics committed to developing quality teaching, learning and assessment. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from those who have expertise in the following areas:
- Nursing and Allied Health
- Research
- Advanced Practice
- Public Health
Applications are invited from suitably qualified academic staff who have experience of postgraduate education in Nursing or similar Allied Health Profession. Experience of external examining would be an advantage but is not essential.
As an External Examiner for this programme you will be responsible for the external moderation for Advanced Research Methods (SCQF 11); Masters Dissertation (SCQF 11); Clinical Negotiated Study (Professional Doctorate Programme) (SCQF 11).
The role of the External Examiner is to assure the quality of awards with respect to national standards. Key duties include:
- To review a range of coursework throughout the year
- To attend at least one assessment board per year and submit an annual external examiner report
- Participation in programme (re)approval events
The university offers support for newly appointed external assessors by offering a programme of induction and support from the programme lead. Tenure of appointments is for a period of four years. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University.
