The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Sunderland is seeking to appoint an External Examiner to the MSc (Apprenticeship) Advanced Clinical Practitioner programme to ensure appropriate quality standards are achieved. Applicants for the role will need to hold current registration with the NMC or HCPC.

This is an exciting time to undertake the role, the programme has recently received HEE accreditation and is also being developed as a standalone programme in addition to the current model of apprenticeship delivery. The programme is delivered over a three-year period and is closely aligned to the HEE Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice.

The ideal candidate will ideally be an experienced external examiner but those seeking a first position and have clinical and educational experience relevant to advanced practice would be considered. All applicants must be at senior lecturer and above.

The External Examiner will be expected to monitor the quality of coursework, externally moderate assessed work and complete an annual monitoring report. They are also required to provide comments on any proposed modifications and the development of new modules within their area of expertise, as well as identify areas of good practice.

Full course details and documentation will be provided to the appointee with an induction on appointment.

The post is for an initial period of 4 years, starting on Jan 17th 2022– 16th January 2026
