We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled individual to join our successful and highly committed Departmental Management Group.

The Deputy Head of Department will provide strategic leadership for the Department, drive the highest standards of quality across both research and teaching and continue to build the reputation of the Nursing, Midwifery and Health portfolio of activity. The successful candidate will have the creative vision, leadership and strategic perspective to deliver the Department’s and University’s strategy. Reporting to the Head of Department, the Deputy HOD will work collaboratively with the other members of the Departmental Management Group to build on successes and lead to deliver.

The Department provides high quality, research-rich education using a variety of innovative teaching and learning methods delivered at all academic levels from undergraduate to doctoral study. You will work flexibly as part of a team to contribute to research and research leadership, teaching, learning and assessment to support a high-quality student experience in both pre-registration and post-registration programmes and to meet our ambitious strategy for research intensity and quality. You will participate in the planning, designing and development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as pastoral tutoring. You will provide expertise, leadership and mentorship to further enhance research and entrepreneurial activities. This will include undertaking individual and collaborative research that demonstrates impact.

Previous experience of teaching and leading is highly desirable and your application should detail your areas of clinical/teaching experience and expertise. We are looking for individuals with a variety of expertise and for someone to have significant leadership responsibilities as part of departmental management. You must possess excellent knowledge of the subject area you are applying for and be a registered member of a relevant professional body. You must have a record of peer-reviewed publication of high quality and, ideally, income generation.
