This is an exciting opportunity for a senior academic to join the School of Health & Life Sciences at Associate Professorial level. You will have experience in delivering teaching and research activities in a School of Pharmacy and have a national and international reputation in pharmaceutics. You will have a record of leadership in research and scholarship, reflected in publications and successful research funding, and have supervised students and mentored early career researchers in previous positions.

You will have an essential role to play in working as part of the School of Pharmacy leadership team in establishing the new School and recruiting to the pioneer cohort of undergraduate MPharm students. Additionally, you will be involved in supporting the School through the professional accreditation of the MPharm programme to full accreditation status.

This role forms part of the development and establishment of our new Pharmacy offering, and therefore experience working with the General Pharmaceutical Council, or within other accreditation events would be welcome (but is not essential).

We have world class facilities including the £22.3m National Horizons Centre and the £36.9m BIOS building, with world class R&I across our research centres. These include Centre for Public Health, Centre for Biodiscovery, Centre for Rehabilitation, and the Healthcare Innovation Centre. We have strong partnerships with Local Authorities and Health Trusts in the Tees Valley, as well as the regional biosciences industry, and carry out impactful research and workforce development. We have a long-standing tradition of collaborative working with partners in the health-life sciences sector in developing innovative technologies and community-based health interventions.

You will secure funding for, and subsequently deliver, multidisciplinary projects that align to the strategic priorities of the University. The role will be pivotal in engaging with established collaborations including other HEIs, health trusts, and industry. You will be aware of the potential to enhance the position of Teesside in the region and beyond.

The role of Associate Professor represents a strong emerging independent research leader with a high level of academic recognition and grade conferred by the university. You are expected to be able to demonstrate ongoing performance that is unequivocally excellent in the candidate’s field, and act as an ambassador for the university in terms of its global academic standing and reputation.

Please be advised that due to the minimum salary thresholds imposed by the UKVI, this post may will qualify for university sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route.

If you are shortlisted, your interview will take place on campus
