The Helen McArdle Nursing and Care Research Institute is an integral part of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Sunderland, supporting the development of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional (NMAHP) applied research and knowledge exchange within health and care settings. The Helen McArdle Nursing and Care Research Institute has four strategic research and knowledge exchange programmes of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions (NMAHPs) ,Health Inequalities ,Health Services Research and our Health and Care Workforce Interdisciplinary Research Network. The strategic programmes are underpinned by four workstreams Out of Hospital Care , Military and Veteran Health and Wellbeing, Obesity and Bariatric Surgical Care and Women’s Health.

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences is the largest School within the University, encompassing academic staff across undergraduate and postgraduate Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals programmes including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Paramedic and Physiotherapy.

As a School we embrace research, innovation and knowledge exchange and are forward thinking in our approach, with strong working relationships including the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria (NENC). The Helen McArdle Nursing and Care Research Institute has a pivotal role to play in our School and Faculty’s ambitious growth plans.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the Institute on a full-time, fixed term 3 year contract. The position is aligned to the ARC Multimorbidity, Ageing and Frailty Theme. The post-holder is required to hold a PhD or equivalent, have demonstrable expertise and experience in applied health research, securing external research grant income, leading and delivering research to time and target, and be able to produce high, quality publications.
