Urgent External Expert – MSc Medical Imaging and MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Radiography)

We are seeking to appoint an External Expert for an upcoming reapproval of event at the University of Bradford. The School of Allied Health Professions and Midwifery have existing MSc Medical Imaging programme and MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Radiography) programme which are both undergoing a curriculum review and redevelopment process currently.

The revised curriculum will be presented for approval in December 2021 at a joint meeting between the University and the Society of Radiographers. The School are also developing a new MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Radiography) apprenticeship programme, which is due to be presented for approval in Spring 2022.

The MSc Medical Imaging and nested Postgraduate Diploma and specialist Postgraduate Certificates are available as target awards. The MSc Medical Imaging programme provides healthcare practitioners engaged in a diverse range of imaging specialities with a vocational pathway of flexible study. It is designed to support healthcare practitioners develop the knowledge, understanding and skills in medical imaging that are required of a professional who aspires to work at an advanced level of practice.

The MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (Radiography) programme covers the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice. The programme has been specifically designed to meet the need for expert radiographers who undertake reporting for the NHS and independent heath organisations and is validated by the Society of Radiographers, incorporating their criteria for advanced practice. The revised curriculum will broaden the scope of the Advanced Practice beyond radiographic reporting.

As an External Expert you will be invited to review programme documentation and submit a written report, attendance at the online meeting is not required. The successful candidate will be sent the documentation once their appointment has been confirmed and will have until Monday 6th December 2021 to read and complete a written report.

The successful applicant will have experience designing and delivering Masters medical imaging curriculum and will be familiar with the Advanced Clinical Practitioner framework. They should teach at Masters’ level and have experience of quality assurance within the Higher Education sector in the UK. Professional membership with SCoR is welcome but not essential.

Experts external to the University bring their professional expertise and insight to activities such as programme review, modification and approval. They are a valuable asset to the University in assuring that the programmes it delivers are academically coherent, current in terms of the most recent academic, professional and industrial developments and relevant to the needs of employers.
