The School of Health Sciences, is seeking an External Examiner for our MSc Advanced Clinical Practice & MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Degree Apprenticeship. Our programmes have gained accreditation with Health Education England’s Centre for Advancing Practice.

2. External examiner responsibilities, regulations & requirements:
a) Responsibilities:
External examiner responsibilities include external moderation of assessments, including the apprenticeship end point assessment, completion of annual monitoring reports and attendance at Examination boards (at least 1 per year). The school uses an electronic marking system; external examiners are required to make use of this during the external moderation process.

Additionally, there are specific requirements for meeting quality assurance aspects of delivery of apprenticeships & this includes external assessor duties to ensure the Apprenticeship End Point Assessment (EPA) regulations are adhered to on behalf of the EQA provider. All appointments are subject to candidate(s) meeting the University’s criteria for appointment & agreement to undertake the required training for UoN external examiners and additional aspects for external assessors.

c) Requirements:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced academic staff in the relevant area. Applicants should the hold appropriate academic qualifications, including, a teaching qualification (minimum of PGCHE/equivalent) and a master’s or higher-level qualification in the relevant area, as well as the appropriate clinical experience. Applicants should be experienced healthcare professionals registered with the appropriate professional regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, GPhC).

This post will require you to understand the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Degree Apprenticeship occupational standard and end-point assessment plan and ideally have experience of provision of an apprenticeship programme.

The appointment will start immediately & will be for a period of 4 years, reviewed annually.
