The School of Health Sciences, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University
of Nottingham is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our non medical prescribing courses.
These are level 3 and 4 course for Independent and Supplementary Prescribing for Nurses and Midwives, Independent and Supplementary Prescribing for the Allied Health Professions and Supplementary Prescribing for Dietitians.

2. External examiner responsibilities, regulations and requirements:
a) Responsibilities:
External examiner responsibilities include external moderation of assessments, completion of an annual monitoring report and attendance at Examination boards (at least one per year). The School uses an electronic marking system. External examiners are required to make use of the system during the external moderation process.

b) Criteria and restrictions for the appointment of external examiners:

All appointments are subject to candidate(s) meeting the University’s criteria for appointment.
c) Requirements:
Applicants should the hold appropriate academic qualifications to at least the level of the qualification being externally examined. Preference is given to applicants holding a non-medical prescribing qualification. ;
Please be aware that the Nurse and Midwifery Council (NMC) requires external examiners for nursing and midwifery programmes to possess current registration on the appropriate part of the NMC, HCPC or GPhC register.
It is preferable to have previous experience of external examining although support and guidance can be supplied for those new to this role.
The appointment will start from September 2023 and will be for a period of four years.
