It brings together the existing centres of excellence in health and medication education provided by the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University and local healthcare organisations, to offer a new model of person-centred medical education.
The Undergraduate Programme Director role pivots on working in close collaboration with education and clinical leads at our partner NHS trusts, with our ‘parent partners’ Brighton and Sussex Medical School, with module and year leaders, and with external bodies.
This is a fixed term role (for 12 months to cover maternity leave) in which your focus will be on coordinating the development and delivery of years four and five of the programme and managing the ongoing maintenance of the medical undergraduate curriculum to ensure it fully realises the huge potential of our partnerships.
Reporting to the Dean as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will develop learning and teaching opportunities, including our signature placements model. A key part of your role will be to work with the Leads for Admissions, Assessment, Heads of Operations and Heads of Years to ensure KMMS programmes are continually aligned to the Learning and Teaching Strategy and all current and future quality, governance and regulatory requirements (e.g. those for GMC, QAA, the Office for Students and Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex) for both HEs are met. You will also collaborate to ensure service-level agreements with placement providers specify requirements for learning and teaching.
We are looking for qualified individuals with proven academic credibility and in-depth understanding of current issues in undergraduate medical education. Experience of university education is essential. If you have a solid grasp of national/international expectations of good curriculum design, plus a sound understanding of recruitment and admissions, retention, widening participation, quality assurance and enhancement issues, we would welcome your application to this role.
