The School of Nursing and Advanced Practice has recently been restructured to enhance the focus on undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and advanced multidisciplinary practice. Situated in the Faculty of Health, the School plays a key role in the development of the current and future health workforce. The undergraduate portfolio is significant and increasing each year with various local and regional programmes. The School plays a pivotal role in the nursing workforce agenda regionally. The Faculty of Health strives to tackle health inequalities, social exclusion and deprivation in local communities and beyond, through our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, along with a growing programme of international partnerships and student opportunities. There is a developing culture of multidisciplinary research into undergraduate education, simulation and advanced practice poised for additional growth and funding.

We are seeking to appoint a Subject Head in Undergraduate Nursing to provide leadership of the undergraduate programmes with line management of academic staff engaged in teaching, research, and enterprise. You will be responsible for the academic development and delivery of high-quality taught programmes in undergraduate nursing, including pre-registration nursing associate programmes.

You will be able to demonstrate academic leadership of nurse education and curriculum developments with the ability to respond to workforce challenges, the external environment and policy in this area. You will have a strong profile in education, research and innovation whilst ensuring the student experience is central. Applicants must be ‘live’ on the NMC Register and hold a postgraduate degree in nursing (or cognate discipline) and a PhD (or be actively working towards this).
