One of the best Universities for health education, Worcester is founding the distinctive Three Counties Medical School [TCMS], aiming to widen access to careers in medicine and retain graduates in the local area. The School’s planned curriculum emphasises problem-based learning [PBL], early patient contact, programmatic assessment, an emphasis on community-orientated clinical placements and professional, emotionally intelligent communication at every stage.

As a PBL Facilitator, you will provide small group facilitation for first year medical students, who will meet in small groups to explore and discuss authentic clinical case scenarios. You will also need to undertake the necessary preparation for facilitating small group work and tutorials including PBL scenario refreshment and tutor notes, as well as assessing student progress, providing constructive and timely feedback. PBL facilitators will also act as the students Personal Academic Tutors (PAT) providing student academic guidance, mentorship and pastoral support.

Each PBL Facilitator will meet with groups of students on Monday afternoons and Friday mornings over 35 weeks. The remaining time will be devoted to preparation, curriculum development, career development and the assessment of students. PATs meet at least 4 times a year with individual students and are responsible for updating student records and liaising with student support services.
