Your discipline. Your passion. Our success, together.
About You
We seek an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. You should have relevant background in the development, delivery, quality assurance and enhancement of programmes and modules in clinical/medical education at postgraduate level.
To be successful in this role, you will further enrich our student’s experience through your expertise and subject knowledge, as evidenced through your qualifications and professional experience. In return, you will join a forward thinking and dynamic team that pushes the boundaries of curriculum development within the new Medical School. As a Grade 9/10 Senior Lecturer, you will also be required to take on some leadership roles as deemed appropriate by your Head of Department.
You will have access to a range of specialist development programmes and academic development opportunities, along with an award winning and comprehensive staff health & wellbeing programme (HR Excellence Awards 2017). You will receive a full academic induction, be enrolled onto our PGC Teaching in Higher Education (as deemed appropriate), benefit from the Edge Hill University CPD scheme (UKPSF) and also have access to a wide range of support for your professional development. The School and Faculty has a vibrant range of staff research, teaching and learning seminar programmes.
Our research profile is expanding and our staff are required to engage in this activity with support, where appropriate, from our research theme leaders.
We will consider applications from those interested in full time or part time appointments.
About the Role
This post is to support the expansion and development of Edge Hill University’s Medical School at an exciting time in its evolution.
The primary focus for this post is the MCh and MMed programmes. We have a vacancy for one of two programmes leads for our successful International Training Fellowship Programme (ITFP), which recruits international doctors to work in NHS posts, whilst having the opportunity to study for a Master of Surgery or Master of Medicine degree over a 2-3 year period, whilst here in the UK. The programme has many specialist clinical pathways and further details can be found at https://www.edgehill.ac.uk/courses/master-of-surgery/ https://www.edgehill.ac.uk/courses/master-of-medicine/
The successful candidate will work closely with our partners at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh, NHS Foundation Trust. Some international travel may be required (consistent with government guidance).
The successful candidate will also work across other programmes and modules in the Medical School. Exact contribution will depend on specific expertise.
Providing a high-quality student experience is our primary aim, and the successful candidate must have sustained excellence in student engagement and support, with effective learning strategies that are embedded in current, evidence-based practice, supporting students to achieve their full potential and preparing them for their professional career.
