Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

We are seeking a Senior Lecturer with a desire to achieve excellence in teaching, research and practice. You will be based within the Midwifery team in the Department of Midwifery and Health Sciences. As a Senior Lecturer you will facilitate learning across the pre-registration BSc (Hons) Programme as well as supporting some post-registration and postgraduate leaning.

The Midwifery team provides education to students on the Lansdowne campus in Bournemouth and on the St Mary’s Community Health Campus in Portsmouth, and there is an expectation that you will teach in both Bournemouth and Portsmouth. Our large and well-established BSc (Hons) Programme is delivering a new 2021 curriculum, incorporating an online MORA document. The Programme holds Gold Unicef BFI accreditation, a well-recognized Continuity Caseloading scheme and, thanks to extensive EXON CPD in recent years, is well placed to deliver the EXON component within the undergraduate Programme. Experience of teaching and assessing EXON would be desirable.

The department is committed to supporting and developing its staff in their career pathway and there will be many opportunities for personal development. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with internationally acclaimed researchers within the Centre for Midwifery, Maternal and Perinatal Health and to engage with interprofessional colleagues and external partners to develop an excellent student experience and high quality research.

Depending on your grade, you will be qualified to Doctorate level or be able to demonstrate the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level and the capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3-5 years from the date of appointment. You will be research active and committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement. You must be registered on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Register (Midwifery) and have relevant teaching experience.
