This is an opportunity for an experienced researcher to join the Emergency Care team in the Centre for Health and Clinical Research at UWE Bristol. Emergency Care at UWE Bristol has a rapidly growing national and international reputation for high-quality research. We have recently launched REACH (the Research in Emergency care, Avon Collaborative Hub). This initiative aligns researchers from the two Universities in Bristol to create a formal collaboration, with direct links to other relevant networks such as Health Integration Teams, NHS commissioners, health and care providers, the Applied Research Collaboration West, the West of England Academic Health Sciences Network, other Higher Education Institutions, healthcare providers and commissioners across the wider Southwest, in close collaboration with patient and public groups.

The post holder will support the delivery of the promotED study ‘What are the barriers to health promotion advice delivered by staff working in urgent care and emergency departments?’. This is a project funded by the National Institute for Health Research. The project is led by the Centre for Health Research (CHCR) at UWE Bristol. This is a part time (60% FTE), one year fixed-term post.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with prior experience in research, scoping reviews, and qualitative data collection within the NHS, and preferably within a primary or emergency care setting. This is a key role within the research study team, and the post holder will be responsible for undertaking a scoping review of the relevant literature, liaising with participants to arrange and undertake interviews and set up expert panel meetings. This will involve day-to-day coordination/ administration, database management and contact with researchers and clinicians following ethics guidelines and appropriate protocols. The post holder will be expected to work on their own initiative, seeking guidance and advice where necessary from the Project Manager and the Study Management Group. Applicants must be well organised, possess strong communication skills and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

This post is based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. Regular bus services link the campus to the main Frenchay site, the city centre and surrounding areas, and nearby Bristol Parkway train station.
