The School of Health & Psychological Sciences is dedicated to the education and development of health professionals and the performance of high-quality research. It is located in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.
We have an ongoing programme of work within the Department of Optometry & Visual Sciences entitled, “An investigation into new methods of perimetry and analysis of perimetric data”
People with eye conditions like macular disease and glaucoma can have missing parts (scotoma) in their vision; these vary in size/severity/location depending on stage of disease. Perimetry is the automated clinal examination used to assess scotoma. The research fellow will be directed by Professor David Crabb to contribute to an on-going programme of work developing new perimetry tests and on new methods for analysing data from these tests.
Responsibilities
A research fellow is to be appointed at in the Department of Optometry and Visual Science in the School of Health and Psychological Sciences to be directed by Professor David Crabb. The research fellow will contribute to an ongoing programme of work entitled, “An investigation into new methods of perimetry and analysis of perimetric data”
The post requires someone with experience in ophthalmology and specific experience in analysis of results from the imaging and functional (perimetry) tests to be used in the project. The research fellow will work in Professors Crabb’s research laboratory (Crabb Lab www.staff.city.ac.uk/crabblab).
Person Specification
The postholder would be expected to take the lead on implementation of data, support general research activities and hold a PHD.
