The School of Healthcare Sciences is a dynamic and forward-looking School, recognised for our excellence in learning, teaching and research. We are a leading UK provider of nursing, midwifery and allied health professional education with a wide portfolio of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels attracting high quality UK and international students. Research in the School is internationally recognised for its quality and is directed at informing improvements in patient outcomes and experiences and in the organisation of services. Uniquely, we are home to the WHO Collaborating Centre for Midwifery Development, the Wales Centre for Evidence-Based Care, and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Chair of Nursing Research.

We wish to recruit academic candidates with an outstanding record of attracting external research funds, excellent international publications, and demonstrable impact in research – individuals who are able to make a major contribution to academic and societal issues in patient care.
Candidates will demonstrate high-level leadership and motivational skills with an inclusive and engaging team building ethos and focus, with the ability to positively communicate and influence a diverse stakeholder group. You will have experience of developing and delivering research support programmes as well as experience in the development and implementation of strategy and policy and an understanding of research governance.
Developing research capacity and capability will be a key part of the role working with the School’s Professional Heads, Directors and research theme leaders. A significant contribution to innovation, enterprise, teaching and scholarship within the School is also expected.
We welcome excellent applicants from relevant disciplinary backgrounds who can demonstrate application to healthcare research and practice. Successful candidates will be employed on the University Teaching and Research career pathway at Reader or Chair level dependent upon meeting the relevant role benchmarks.

This position is full-time, 35 hours per week and open-ended.
Reader: Salary: £63,673 – £65,578 per annum (Grade 8)
Professor: Salary will include a competitive remuneration package, commensurate with experience, on the professorial salary scale.
