We are a committed equal opportunities employer and we particularly encourage applications from men to reflect our diverse student cohort and staff under-representation where it exists.

The School of Health and Social Work at the University of Hertfordshire has a long-established reputation as a centre for excellence for healthcare education. Our vision is to transform lives through our education, research and community engagement activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School as a Principal Lecturer and Programme Leader in Advanced Clinical Practice. You will join a large and friendly academic team which has a long-standing, successful track record in delivering interprofessional education at an advanced level. The role requires an experienced, motivated, and student-focused individual to lead the Advanced Practice Programme/ MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (with Degree Apprenticeship).

This role is to lead the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice programme/MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (with Degree Apprenticeship), to operationalise the curricula, and to support the development of students in acquiring the knowledge and skills required for Advanced Clinical Practice for both routes. You will lead and manage the programme including liaising with module leaders, personal tutors and employers. You will be responsible for responding to national and local strategic drivers in order to continually develop the programme. You will maintain contemporary knowledge of the current professional agenda and developments in advanced practice across disciplines.

You will assume overall responsibility for student and apprentice recruitment, induction and support; taking a pro-active role in the monitoring of academic standards, paying particular attention to the needs of external regulation and the requirements of external agencies such as the QAA, OfS, Ofsted, EFSA, PSRB’s regulatory and professional bodies as well as internal requirements and student feedback. You will ensure the Initial Needs Assessments, Progress Reviews and End Point Assessments are conducted and recorded according to the Programme Specification, PSRB requirements, and apprenticeship standards including recording and monitoring “Off the Job” learning. You will work with the Enterprise and Business Development Unit and employers to interview applicants for the ACP apprenticeship programme as part of the admissions process.

You will have experience in module leadership, programme and curriculum management and supporting clinical skills. It is essential that you are knowledgeable about the advanced clinical practice landscape and have experience in physical assessment and advanced history taking.

You will be a Registered Health Professional (e.g., NMC, HCPC) and hold a Masters degree in a relevant subject. See the JDPS for more details and information. DBS required.
