Background
The School is seeking to appoint to a Professorship in Healthy Ageing. An accomplished
and ambitious individual with research interests that align closely with one or more of the School’s Research Centres, the appointed Professor will have acquired the experience necessary to lead the successful development of a programme of research. They will be responsible for undertaking world-leading or internationally excellent research; generating research grant income; developing the School’s external partnerships in their particular field; and facilitating the work of the School’s Research Centres, their Department, and the wider School.

Responsibilities
We invite applications from candidates who hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area, with demonstrable ability to lead the development of a programme of research. A world-leading research reputation and corresponding record of internationally excellent publications, is essential, as is a successful track record of securing research funding from Research Councils and other funding bodies. Experience of delivering strong and effective academic leadership within a university or similar academic environment is required.

Person Specification
Applicants will have significant experience of delivering excellent education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervising doctoral students to successful completion. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate established links with international individuals and organisations in Primary Care and/or Secondary Care (e.g. NHS Trusts, private sector).
