Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students. This has been recognised by the Sunday Times naming Abertay as the University of the Year for Teaching Quality in 2021. This quality is developed through partnership working between academic staff, professional services staff and students at the University.
The School of Applied Sciences delivers programmes and applied research in the areas of food and drink, the built and natural environment, forensic and biomedical sciences, mental health nursing, counselling, psychology, and sport and exercise. There has been significant growth in the School’s research output in recent years with some subject disciplines leading the rankings for research intensity for modern Universities in Scotland in REF2014.
We invite applications for the position of Professor within the Division of Health Sciences which hosts researchers with expertise in the area of biomedical sciences, mental health nursing, and counselling. This Division recently made its first submission to REF Unit of Assessment 3 and in order to build on this we are seeking to recruit an Allied Health research lead.
You will have expertise in a cognate area relevant to the Division, with a national or international reputation, demonstrable external esteem in research and / or knowledge exchange, and a track record in raising research income.
In this role you will be pivotal in further developing our research strengths and making a substantial contribution to Abertay’s strategic interests within the field of Health Sciences. You will conduct world-leading research, supervise postgraduate students, mentor early-career researchers, and lead collaborations within Abertay and with other institutions and industrial partners.
