Hull York Medical School is looking to appoint an MB BS Programme Simulation lead. The post-holder will be the lead for the development and implementation of simulation in the MB BS programme, ensuring our students graduate with adequate knowledge, skills and experience in preparation for working in the NHS.
Knowledge of GMC requirements for primary medical qualifications is critical and, in order to maintain proportionality in a busy curriculum, the post-holder will need to manage available resource with awareness of the many and varied demands on curricular time and students’ workload.
The Hull York Medical School is the joint medical school of the Universities of Hull and York. Our innovative curriculum and focus on problem based learning and early and sustained clinical exposure ensures that students on our MB BS programme develop the problem solving, analytical and communication skills and resilience needed to deliver a high standard of care to people with complex needs and from a variety of backgrounds.
As Simulation Lead, the post-holder will be responsible for the design, resources and implementation of simulation including providing teaching, educational resources and related assessment items. The post-holder can, at their discretion, delegate some of these activities to individuals with appropriate expertise (e.g., senior clinicians or trainees, nurses or allied health professionals with an interest in education) but they will retain responsibility for the delivery and quality.
Candidates are required to be registered with the GMC with a license to practice. They should have sufficient completed post-graduate training to be a credible specialty lead (e.g. Clinical Lecturer, Staff Grade, GP, Consultant or similar).
