The School of Health and Life Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme. The aim of the MPH is to educate students in preventing ill health, promoting health, and protecting the health and well-being of the public through education, research and public health practice. The MPH comprises of 6 core modules, an optional module and a dissertation. GCU is seeking someone who has experience of working in public health along with knowledge of university processes. Previous experience as an external examiner would be advantageous but not essential. There will be support offered to external examiners to assist you in settling into the role.
The role requires attendance at university assessment boards, programme boards and other relevant events at key points during the year (there may be online opportunity). This will be to feedback on the moderation of students work to ensure consistency of marking and that the MPH is comparable with other similar programmes across the UK, along with assurance that students are assessed in accordance with regulations approved for each module. You will be expected to provide an annual report regarding the standards attained by students and any other matters that are deemed appropriate. The post will commence in October 2023 until October 2027.
