The Role
We are looking for experienced occupational therapists who might wish to try an academic career or you may already be an established academic who want to join a supportive team to help us develop and deliver our occupational therapy programmes.

Our main criteria is an enthusiasm for supporting students to maximise their potential during their occupational therapy education and practice placements. These will be students on a BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or the two year accelerated MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-registration).

The Person
We are looking for occupational therapists who can demonstrate a range of professional occupational therapy experiences. You will need a strong appreciation of assessment and management strategies, clinical reasoning, and their application to practice and contemporary health and social care is essential. You will need to demonstrate previous university and/or practice based educational experience. Our programmes have a strong foundation in Occupational Science, Occupational Therapy theories and evidence and all team members are encouraged to develop their own and their students’ understanding using this knowledge.

If you would like to join us and are new to teaching, we can support you through mentoring, and through our postgraduate teaching programme. Additional responsibilities will include teaching and assessing, module leadership, a personal tutor role, research support for students, practice placement supervision, and being part of the Occupational Therapy team. The Centre supports new members of staff to gain appropriate qualifications and is keen to support ongoing academic and professional development.

The Faculty
Centre for Allied Health

The Centre for Allied Health brings together a range of allied registered healthcare roles vital to society.

Based at St George’s hospital in Tooting, we are integrated across the higher education and health sectors, touching on a variety of disciplines, including paramedic science, diagnostic radiography, radiotherapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, as well as having links to medicine at St George’s and nursing and midwifery at Kingston University.

These roles will be based at our St George’s University of London site in Tooting.

There are multiple positions available.
– 1 x full time, fixed term for 12 months (maternity cover)
– 1 x part time (22.20 hours per week), fixed term for 12 months (maternity cover)
– 1 x full time, permanent

We are looking to appoint at a starting salary of £39,932 per annum for a Lecturer or £44,614 per annum for a Senior Lecturer, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant plus a St George’s supplement of £730 per annum.

The fixed term posts are available as a result of maternity leave and it is expected that you will hold them for the full period. However, should the substantive post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month. The maternity cover is for 12 months.
