The Student Nurse Associate and the Foundation Degree in Health Care Practice (its direct entry equivalent) is an exponentially growing area within the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Hertfordshire. This is an exciting development for the School and we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer to add to the team of academics supporting the programme.
Main duties and responsibilities
You will primarily be involved in the development, planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality, evidence informed learning and teaching activity for students on the Student Nurse Associate/ Foundation Degree in Health Care Practice programme and this will involve working with the Programme Team and also with other academic technical and administrative staff across the School in order to achieve this. The post will also involve clinical skills teaching, academic assessment, academic and pastoral supervision of nursing apprentices. The maintenance of accurate and contemporaneous records of all elements of student progress is essential and you will be working with the team to ensure that the programme is compliant with Ofsted and NMC requirements.
Skill and experience required
You will have good communication, organisational and inter-personal skills, a student-centred approach and an interest in work-based learning and continued professional development. You will thrive in a small team and have the ability to work across wider teams in the School and in the workplace.
Using your communication skills, you will connect and build a rapport with students and provide guidance and support on how they can improve their academic performance and maximise their learning potential. You will have an ability to ensure that contemporary and detailed records of all elements of student progress are maintained.

Qualifications required
You will hold a minimum of a BSc or equivalent in a health-related subject. (and/or a relevant postgraduate qualification). You will be registered as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council due to the need to ensure that students have a grounding in the professional and regulatory requirements of their forthcoming NMC registration. For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, you will hold a Level 7 qualification (such as PgDip or Masters) in a relevant subject area.
