The Post
We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic lead midwife for education to contribute to our BSc Nursing, BSc Paramedic Science and Prescribing for Healthcare Professional Programmes, and to help build on our success and to deliver the University’s strategic plan.
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in midwifery and child health, have an active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and a recognised teaching qualification. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a proven track record in midwifery leadership, policy and staff development. Experience of supervising, supporting and assessing students in practice learning environments is also essential. The successful applicant will work with existing Faculty groups to deliver excellence in teaching to all our Nursing Programmes and our BSc Paramedic Science Programme. They will also be expected to undertake either scholarly or research activity leading to funding proposals and high-quality outputs.

Health Sciences
In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, we were ranked first in Scotland and 12th in the UK for Health Science research. We have a number of research groups which span subjects including ‘Enhancing Self-care’ and ‘Cancer care’ and have a thriving post-graduate research community of PhD and Clinical Doctorate students.
We offer a number of undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities. Our BSc Nursing (Adult or Mental Health) course has won nine Student Nursing Times Awards since 2012 including UK Nurse educator of the year twice. We have also received multiple commendations from the Nursing and Midwifery Council for our close working relationships with our NHS partners. We also have more than 97% of our undergraduate leavers in employment or further study within six months of graduating. Our taught postgraduate courses integrate academic learning, research and professional practice and are designed to develop graduates with the employability skills required by the sector.
