About the role

Reporting to the Head of School for Rehabilitation, Sport and Psychology, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of clinical education to speech and language therapy and other health professions students within the School’s portfolio of courses. Duties will include teaching and developing students’ knowledge and skills of speech and language therapy interventions; developing applied practice skills for students to apply on placements and oversee the provision of student placements liaising with local placement providers. Their previous qualifications in speech and language therapy will be invaluable in helping students critically appraise information and arrive at sound clinical decisions. The post holder will undertake research in support of the School’s and institution’s research strategies and supervise students in the completion of their own research projects.

About the person

We seek an enthusiastic and highly motivated UK registered speech and language therapist with experience of working in higher education to join our team. The post holder will have excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and work in an evidence informed manner with relevant clinical experience, with the potential to also undertake course leadership for the new MSc Speech and Language Therapy (pre-registration) course.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to high quality research as part of a group of staff, developing their research skills and co-authoring peer reviewed publications. They must maintain their own development as a regulated healthcare professional and educator and contribute to the enhancement of pre-registration, post-registration and CPD courses within the School’s portfolio.
