We are seeking highly-qualified colleagues to join a vibrant research and education team bringing expertise in Physiotherapy and other related disciplines (e.g. Rehabilitation, Sports physiology, respiratory) to contribute to two education programmes (UG and PGT) and to deliver internationally-leading research. Depending on the pool of applicants, there may be more than one post offered.

We are seeking to appoint an allied health professional (physiotherapy preferred) at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer who is an active researcher. The role is within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, which has an international reputation for research and research-enhanced education. There are excellent links with healthcare providers across King’s Health Partners. The Department is part of the School of Population Health and aligned also to the School of Life Course Sciences and other departments within the Faculty. The Department has a large undergraduate and postgraduate teaching portfolio in physiotherapy, primary care, and global health and interprofessional links with other healthcare and bioscience programmes in the Faculty and university. The opportunities for personal development are exceptional.

The post holder will work with existing teams in the School and wider Faculty to enhance our research excellence at an international, national and local level. The development of a strong research programme relevant to academic physiotherapy is a core remit of the position. The postholder will be encouraged to collaborate and draw upon academic strengths across the department, School and/or Faculty in order to develop the strongest possible programme that not only supports their own work but also acts as a focus for other physiotherapists and allied health professionals wishing to pursue research or research training. As such, they will play a key role in mentoring and supporting other physiotherapists and allied health professionals to undertake research and/or PhDs.

The post holder will contribute to the leadership of physiotherapy research and educational functions, and expand the academic profile. They will make a significant contribution to the leadership, development and delivery of the innovative new curriculum in physiotherapy to reflect research, advances, global relevance and educational innovation. The post holder will work with an interdisciplinary group of research active and innovative researchers and educators to promote interprofessional learning, student involvement and blended learning initiatives.

Areas of research interest and strength in the School and Faculty include:

  • Trials involving complex interventions in long term conditions/prevention
  • Long-term conditions and multiple mental and physical morbidities (e.g. COPD, falls and frailty)
  • Sports science
  • Respiratory physiology
  • Cardiovascular and muscle physiology
  • Developing and implementing methods to evaluate the complexity of system changes in health and social care
  • Developing and executing Public Health interventions in multi-ethnic populations
  • Health data science
  • Inequalities and ethnicity.

This full-time post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
