The Paramedic Education Team situated within the Centre for Allied Health within St George’s University medical school, is seeking lecturers and senior lecturers in paramedic education for the 3 year BSc pre-registration programme. You will be joining a dynamic, forward-thinking team with a well-established reputation for high quality, avant-garde education. Lecturers will be primarily involved in the delivery of simulation in the state-of-the-art simulation suite and being part of a marking team. Senior Lecturers will be involved in both simulation and modular delivery of the programme, ideally being able to run and manage 30 credit educational modules at level 4,5 or 6. The main duties of all academic staff are teaching, research and scholarship. Academics will support teaching activities, self-development and supporting the development of others, curriculum development, management, administration, consultancy, professional updating, student counselling and welfare.

As part of this professional role, you will be working in collaboration with Ambulance Trusts, as well as multi-disciplinary teams from Kingston and St George’s Universities. This role offers the unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge clinical and teaching technology within a state-of-the-art dedicated Paramedic Simulation Centre, which includes two replica ambulances and an immersive suite. This position demands a pioneering, enthusiastic and innovative approach to clinical education and self-development to deliver engaging, high quality, contemporary education to our future paramedics within our dedicated, experienced and friendly team.

An experienced, motivated paramedic, registered with the UK HCPC (or for those applying from further afield, in the process of registering). Lecturers will have some experience of educating clinical staff and possess a BSc in Paramedic Science as a minimum, ideally accompanied by a relevant teaching qualification including PGCE or PPEd/PEd level 3. Senior Lecturers will have minimum of a BSc in Paramedic Science (or similar clinical degree for post-reg) supported by a relevant out of hospital or clinical master’s degree. An educational pre-requisite such as a PGCE or similar educational qualification is preferable, but not essential. Those who do not possess this will be asked to undertake a PGCE as part of the expectations of the probationary period. Some experience of research and scholarship in the field of paramedic practice or education will be advantageous in this role, and Senior Lecturers will have a research preference. The post of an academic member of staff requires professional commitment and the maintenance of high professional standards.
