The Role
Forward-looking and innovative, join our dynamic School of Nursing and contribute to the development of the nursing and healthcare workforce. In this role you will strive to enhance the reputation of our School of Nursing, with a particular focus on our Nursing Associate provision. The School holds a well-established, strong national reputation as a first wave HEE nursing associate apprenticeship pilot site and was amongst the first in England to launch an NMC approved UCAS entry programme.
You will have a keen interest in education and an ability to inspire this group of students, particularly in the areas of health promotion and anatomy and physiology, and will support the delivery of nursing associate programmes, contributing to classroom teaching, module planning and management. You will also contribute to practice learning support, promoting strong working relationships with practice supervisors, practice assessors and employers. Alongside being involved in the pastoral care of students, you will be encouraged and supported to further your interests in scholarship or professional practice.
The Person
Clinically up-to-date and abreast of local and national developments in practice learning and the nursing associate role, it is likely that you will be a practice educator or an established nurse with experience in the education and training of pre-registration learners. Alternatively, you may be a nurse lecturer seeking a new teaching role with a focus on nursing associates. You’ll also have excellent communication skills and will be passionate about supporting students in both the University and practice settings. Whatever your background, you’ll have NMC registration and a first degree in nursing or related area (or be working towards this). You may also have a teaching qualification, such as the UKPSF2 or PGCHE.
