The Person

You will be registered with the HCPC as an Operating Department Practitioner, hold as a minimum an undergraduate honours degree (I.e. BSc/BA (Hons) and ideally be working towards a Masters degree in a relevant subject.

You will hold significant post-qualifying knowledge and clinical experience in operating department practice.

You will be expected to develop and deliver learning materials that are contemporary and evidence-based, using innovative teaching and learning methodologies. You will also act as a Module Leader.

You will demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with students, other academics, clinical practitioners, support and technical staff.

Essential to this position will be the ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with healthcare providers in Berkshire and London. You will undertake a link lecturer role and provide educational support for practice supervisors and assessors in clinical practice areas.

We welcome applications from individuals who do not have a fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Should you be successful and do not hold an HEA fellowship you will be asked to complete one within 2 years of appointment as a condition of your continued employment. Depending on eligibility this may take the form of an advanced Level 7 apprenticeship in teaching which means that you will spend 20% of your work in off-the-job study.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.

This position does not meet the University criteria for Skilled Worker sponsorship.

Please be advised that it is expected that appointment within a grade will normally be at the minimum point.
