About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Social Work (Practice Education) to join the Department of Social Work within the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine. You will be required to make a significant contribution to the delivery of our portfolio, contributing to the delivery of our modules on the BA (Hons), MA and MNSW programmes and other areas of our core curriculum depending on your areas of expertise and experience. We would welcome candidates who are qualified and registered social workers with significant recent academic and/or practice experience, underpinned by a sound working knowledge of social work theory and who also possess a recognised practice learning qualification (eg: PEPS to Stage 2].

You will be expected to contribute to the research activities of one of our Research Units and meet the qualitative and qualitative requirements for submission to the next Research Excellence exercise in 2027.

About You

As Lecturer in Social Work (Practice Education) you will be a qualified and registered social worker with a relevant first degree and possess a practice learning qualification (to stage 2 PEPS). A higher degree (or evidence of successful progress towards completion/intention to pursue), a teaching qualification (or working towards completion), and evidence of research activity/interest would be seen as additional attributes.

You will be a motivated individual with strong record of, and enduring interest in, supporting and engaging with students. You have the ability of supporting students in a range of practice learning contexts across a broad geographical placement circuit. You can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to be flexible and responsive in a team setting are crucial to the role. You will also be expected to contribute to both teaching and research in line with the departmental portfolio and faculty-based research themes
