An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the occupational therapy tutor team at Wrexham Glyndwr University in a lecturing capacity to meet the needs of increasing pre-registration student numbers. The vacancy arises at an exciting time for the University and in meeting a 10-year commissioning contract for healthcare subjects bringing opportunities and development for the faculty.

The department prides itself on a student-centred practice focus and we are currently 2nd in the UK for student satisfaction (Complete University Guide 2022). The tutor team is committed to delivering high quality occupational therapy education across the subject area and WGU is 2nd in the UK for teaching quality (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022) and ranked 1st in England and Wales for social inclusion. The tutor team aims to generate occupational therapy graduate practitioners who are fit for contemporary practice in all health and social care areas and beyond into the third / independent sector.

We are looking for a person to join the team who is an experienced occupational therapist with strong clinical knowledge and skills from any area of practice. We would welcome applications from individuals from a clinical background looking to move into an academic role and those who have experience in higher education and delivery of occupational therapy curricula. The successful applicant will be able to enthuse students to the occupational therapy role, facilitating pre-registration education of student occupational therapists through curriculum delivery across all levels. The successful post holder must enjoy being part of a small and cohesive team where you will have a contributory role across the subject area and allied health, including being actively engaged as a personal tutor and supporting students whilst on placement.

Evidence of Master’s level study is essential and Welsh language speaking is desirable. The post holder must hold current membership with the professional body, Royal College of Occupational Therapists. There is scope for career progression to senior lecturer grading and development opportunities including a teaching qualification, leading to fellow status with Advance HE.

Although this is a full time position, we would welcome applications for job-share or part-time. These posts would be particularly suitable for people who wish to work part-time in an academic role and who wish to combine this with a part-time clinical role.

All applicants invited to interview will be expected to make a short presentation to the panel, based on a relevant subject to the role.

Welsh language skills are desirable for this role.
