We are seeking enthusiastic and inspiring lecturers to join our academic nursing team. Inclusive and interprofessional learning is at the heart of our offer to students and the posts we currently have available are open to nurse educators with current NMC registration in any field of nursing. This doesn’t mean we don’t value and nurture field identity in our students and staff, we do, but our aim is to produce confident graduates and postgraduates who can work flexibly to meet the diverse health needs of our population.
As a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, you will join a motivated team of academics, providing support for teaching and learning across the School. You will be a committed and motivated professional who will therefore contribute effectively to the planning, delivery and evaluation of learning and teaching. As well as this, you will develop and use a range of skills to support students as a personal tutor as well as engaging in collaborative working with other academics, practice provider partners and a range of people and communities to enhance the school portfolio and student experience.
The School delivers undergraduate, degree apprenticeships and postgraduate courses in Adult, Children’s, Community, Learning Disability and Mental Health Nursing and in Midwifery. We place a strong emphasis on access to professional education, offering flexible routes into nursing, healthcare and social care where students can learn and gain experience at the same time, in some cases without the need for typical entry requirements or full-time study at the University.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to our portfolio of nursing programmes, supporting the implementation of the future nurse standards (NMC, 2018). They will be actively involved in curriculum planning, teaching, academic and personal supervision and delivering our inclusive assessment framework, appropriate to their specialist interests and expertise. They may be involved in certificate, apprenticeship and post-qualifying teaching and the supervision of research students. Teaching and supervision of students undertaking our continuing professional development and postgraduate programmes may also be required. In addition to a strong educational offer, the Faculty provides excellent opportunities for practitioners who wish to build their academic career.
