An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Lead Midwife for Education (LME) to lead a new team established to develop and deliver midwifery education in the School of Nursing, Institute of Clinical Sciences, College of Medical and Dental Sciences. Birmingham has a long history of providing graduate nursing programmes, we are consistently ranked in the top 10 of UK providers, the top 100 for the nursing subject in the QSS world rankings, and enjoying a period of sustained growth.

We envisage midwifery will become an important part of the College’s multidisciplinary health professional educational portfolio which includes medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy and biomedical sciences. Our midwifery programme will be delivered in partnership with our internationally renowned NHS trusts, and health and social care providers across Birmingham and Solihull. The programme will be enriched by the leading edge research undertaken at the University of Birmingham relating to global maternal health, evidence based maternity care and risk, abuse and violence.

The post holder will work closely with a Lecturer in Midwifery providing leadership for the development and delivery of a new blended learning MSc Midwifery programme, You work closely with NHS partners to establish strategic and operational midwifery partnerships to enhance the quality of student learning, ensure student employability and maximise opportunities for enterprise and knowledge transfer.

The role holder will be responsible for ensuring we provide NMC Future Midwife standard aligned research informed midwifery programmes, and grow our pre-registration midwifery provision. You will also lead on the development of a Degree Apprenticeship in Midwifery. Your role will also include teaching and supporting students in academic and clinical environments, integrating creative digital technology enhanced learning, and working closely with our practice partners, to ensure an exceptional student experience is provided.

You will also contribute in the development of midwifery scholarship and/or research.
