Faculty / Directorate

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) is a large Faculty that offers education across a number of Health and Social Care courses and is home to four specialist schools – The Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences, the School of Applied Social Sciences, The Leicester School of Nursing and
Midwifery, and The Leicester School of Pharmacy.

The Faculty educates and develops Health and Social Care professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. Teaching reflects the latest developments in the sector and many courses have professional and/or statutory body accreditations.

The Leicester School of Nursing & Midwifery

The School of Nursing & Midwifery is made up of approx. 83FTE staff and covers teaching and research in Nursing (Adult, Child, Learning Disability, Mental Health) and Midwifery through close partnership working with our local
NHS Trusts and with the private, voluntary and independent sector. The school also teaches to an extensive Workforce Development post-registration programme. Research from the school, focusing on health and the integration
of health and social care, was submitted to UoA3 of the recent REF2021 and there is considerable enterprise activity in the form of CPD and specialist teaching.

Role

As Head of School for the Leicester School of Nursing & Midwifery, you will report in to the PVC/Dean and will be a part of the Faculty’s Senior Leadership Team. You will be providing strategic leadership by way of policy and
decision-making, building upon existing academic, professional and research strengths within the school.

In this role, you will lead and manage cross-school and Faculty level initiatives and support the PVC/Dean in ensuring the Faculty is a successful, innovative and inclusive learning and research environment in which all staff and students will thrive.

The salary for this role is between £68,000 and £82,000 depending on skills and experience.

Ideal Candidate

To be successful as Head of the Leicester School of Nursing & Midwifery, it will be essential for you to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and hold a relevant PhD or have equivalent experience within the field.

You must demonstrate having in depth knowledge and understanding of Higher Education policies and practice; have experience within a senior management role delivering strategic plans whilst having in depth understanding of academic quality. You will have experience of engaging with Professional Statutory and Regulatory Bodies and must be able to demonstrate a practical commitment to promoting equality and inclusion within the school.
