The Faculty of Health, Education and Society at the University of Northampton is looking to appoint an experienced and inspirational academic to become Head of Subject for Social, Therapies and Communities. The subject area includes Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Public Health and Social Work programmes, amongst others. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Faculty Executive Leadership Team leading the subject area with responsibilities for: the academic portfolio, a delegated budget, student recruitment and experience, staff development and liaising with relevant external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.

About you

 You will be educated to at least Masters degree level in an area relevant to the subject and also hold a registration with either Social Work England (SWE) or the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You will also have a broad experience in the leadership and management of teams with the ability to shape the academic portfolio whilst working with others to enhance the staff and student experience. You will also have experience of working with delegated budgets and line management. Excellent communication skills are essential as to is the ability to work under pressure, prioritising when required to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

 Essential;

  • Professional qualification related to Subject Area or equivalent professional experience
  • A Masters qualification related to the academic provision of the subject
  • Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D3) and teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within a reasonable period

Desirable;

  • A Doctoral qualification related to the academic provision of the subject
