The Head of Division (HoD) leads the team of academic teaching and research staff and drives forward the research agenda in this World renowned centre for Person Centred Practice. The HoD will work with two senior Deputy Heads, one leading Occupational Therapy and Arts Therapy and the other Nursing and Paramedic Science, to continue to promote the strong values, and working practices which have emerged over the last 8 years. Potential to offer a Professorship if successful applicant matches the relevant criteria.

You will report to the Dean of the School of Health Sciences, and be a member of the School Executive Board and the University Senate.

The role
As the HoD you will provide strategic leadership and direction that promotes multi-disciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education through the social model of Healthcare and person centred practice. You will engage with all complementary aspects of the School and look to foster online learning portfolio, with domestic and international partners. Enhance the profile of the Divisions in international fora and relevant local and national networks through internationally significant academic leadership.

Lead, manage and develop a team of staff to effectively manage and co-ordinate all aspects of the implementation of the School operational plan in relation to nursing, occupational therapy and arts therapies.

You will lead research growth for these areas and further promote the foster of our research agenda, and through our concordat strategy develop young researchers. You will encourage staff engagement in Research and Knowledge exchange and look to further grow research, knowledge exchange and innovation in the next 5 years towards the next REF submission. We look forward to the outcome for REF 2021. We also aim to grow our group to be a centre of excellence in Arts Therapies education and research in Scotland.

About you
You will be an accomplished academic with a successful track record in the broad field of Nursing, Paramedic Science, Occupational Therapy and Arts Therapies with demonstrable experience in management, learning, and in research leadership. You will be a strong motivator and influencer with a proven track record in research development and grant generation.

You are a respected and trusted leader who will use your experience and understanding of higher education to provide leadership on institutional research and learning enhancement activities and to represent the University on relevant sectoral bodies.
