We are urgently seeking to appoint an External Expert for an upcoming approval of event at the University of Bradford. The new programme is an MSc Occupational Science programme, thought to be one of the very first of its kind in the UK.
The School of Allied Health Professions and Midwifery at the University of Bradford will be home to the MSc Occupational Science programme. This new MSc in Occupational Science is the only programme of its kind in the UK. Occupational science is the scientific study of humans as occupational beings. Occupational scientists study the impact of culture, environment and society on health and well-being.
Whilst occupational science is not occupational therapy, it is the academic discipline that informs and shapes occupational therapy practice. The MSc is primarily designed for international and home students with an undergraduate qualification in occupational therapy, but is also available for humanities, public health and social policy graduates who wish to study at MSc level a specialist subject that has practical applications and relevance outside of occupational therapy. The programme aims to a explore critical understanding of the theoretical constructs which underpin research and the application of findings to enhance practice, client outcomes, health and wellbeing and the understanding of phenomena, populations, communities, cultural groups, disorders, disabilities and illness as they relate to occupation.
As an External Experts you will be invited to review programme documentation and submit a written report, attendance at the online meeting is not required.
The successful candidate would need to be available to review a set of documentation and complete a written report to return to the University by 17th June 2021.
Applicants would preferably be a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with a research interest in occupational science. They should teach at Masters’ level and have experience of quality assurance with the Higher Education sector in the UK and internationally.
Experts external to the University bring their professional expertise and insight to activities such as programme review, modification and approval. They are a valuable asset to the University in assuring that the programmes it delivers are academically coherent, current in terms of the most recent academic, professional and industrial developments and relevant to the needs of employers.
