The University of Northampton is looking for three External Examiners in the Nursing subject area for programmes run in partnership with Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust.
Position One
To cover the programmes:
- Postgraduate Certificate in Adult Critical Care
- Graduate Certificate in Adult Critical Care
Students on these programmes will demonstrate practice and leadership in adult critical care through evidence-based practice and person-centre care. The programmes are designed to attract appropriately qualified and experienced nurses and allied healthcare professionals who are seeking to engage in programme of professional development. Currently the programmes are not subject to approval by a professional body.
Each programme is 60 credits comprised of three modules. Module titles include Delivering Contemporary Adult Critical Care Practice, Developing and Leading Contemporary Adult Critical Care Practice and Critical Care Competencies.
Position Two
To cover the programme:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Perioperative Care
Students on this programme will embed patient safety standards and enhance clinical practice. The programme is designed to attract appropriately qualified and experienced nurses and allied healthcare professionals who are seeking to engage in programme of professional development. Currently the programme is not subject to approval by a professional body.
The programme consists of one compulsory module on Advanced Perioperative Care and the choice of one designated module from Advanced Anaesthetic Care, Advanced Surgical Intraoperative Care or Advanced Recovery Care.
Position Three
To cover the programme:
- Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Trauma & Orthopaedic Care
Students on this programme will develop the specialist knowledge and skills in trauma and orthopedic care and to manage the complexity within the specialty using evidence-based practice. The programme consists of three compulsory modules on Advanced Patient Centered Care for the Acutely Unwell Adult (NURM063), Advanced Patient Centered Trauma Care and Advanced Orthopaedic Care.
The module NURM063 is a common module across other already established programmes in the partnership with OUH and attracts a higher number of students.
For each position we are looking for someone:
- who is suitably qualified with expertise in the above areas, ideally a Programme Leader or Senior Lecturer on similar programmes;
- previous experience as an external examiner is strongly preferred;
- previous experience of working in partnerships is preferred but not essential.
The appointment will be for the four academic years 2023 to 2027 and will start immediately upon appointment.
