The University of Central Lancashire is seeking to appoint experienced and suitably qualified academics to act as External Examiners for the Pre-Registration Mental Health Nursing programmes. The School of Nursing has a long tradition of delivering pre-registration nursing programmes, successfully validating, and delivering a programme in line with the NMC Standards for Education, since September 2019. The programme delivery includes both full-time direct entry students and apprentice learners.
The successful applicant must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and have relevant experience of working in mental health nursing practice settings as well as teaching on a pre-registration nursing programme. S/he will work with our existing External Examiners to review a number of modules within the pre-registration mental health nursing programmes. This will include modules delivered at levels 5, 6 and 7, with some of the modules being shared between fields. An induction is provided that the appointee will be expected to attend, and ideally, the external examiner will have had experience of external examining.
The External Examiner will be expected to attend the programme assessment board, consider student work and contribute to the overall assessment process.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced academic staff. All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University’s criteria for appointment.
The appointment will be with effect with immediate effect for Pre-Registration nursing programmes, and will be for a period of four years. To apply, please submit your Curriculum Vitae to Tyler Warburton, Deputy Head Pre-Registration Nursing Education, TWarburton1@uclan.ac.uk
