Edge Hill University, Faculty of Health, Social Care & Medicine, is seeking to appoint an External Examiner to its Medical Education Provision: with subject expertise in Clinical Education

Programme:

a) PGCert Teaching & Learning in Clinical Practice;
b) PGCert Workplace-Based Postgraduate Medical Education.

The ideal candidate will be able to cover both programmes.

Any applicants should have an appropriate background in the field of clinical, medical, dental or health professions education, together with experience within Postgraduate Higher Education. As the two programmes are accredited by Advance HE, applicants should be Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and have an understanding of working with HEA accredited provision.

Module remits are subject to change throughout the term of office, remaining appropriate to the area of expertise.

Successful applicants would be appointed with effect from October 2022 for a term of four years and would be joining an established and supportive external examiner team. External Examiners are required to attend Module Assessment Boards and to complete an annual report. External Examiners are also invited to engage with students in practice.

All applicants must be a suitably qualified academic staff; applicants must be experienced in medical/health education, hold a HE teaching qualification and Advance HE Fellowship status (Principal or Senior Fellow). Experience of external examining would be an advantageous but is not essential.
