Closing Date:

Salary Range:

The University of Bedfordshire, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint external examiners to their Neonatal courses which make up the Qualified in Speciality outcome.

These are part-time courses which extend over a period of 1 to 3 semesters with 2 intakes per year. The courses adopt a work-integrated approach to learning which facilitates the application of theoretical learning within the workplace. Learners attend university and engage in work-based learning activities in a healthcare practice setting.

We are keen to recruit academics who hold current NMC registration as a Nurse/Midwife. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we also welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role.

The successful candidates will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure.

You will be invited to attend our academic examination boards throughout the year. These are held on campus or virtually.

You will also be invited to observe practical assessments (such as OSCEs) and visit students within practice areas. The specific remit includes review of 2 units (Special Care of the Newborn and Intensive and High Dependency of the Newborn) at academic level 6 contributing to the Qualified in Speciality title.

The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from September 2024.

Please note that all External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s External Examiner Committee.
