External Examiner – Return to Practice for Healthcare Professionals

We are looking for a dedicated individual to take on the role of External Examiner for our Return to Practice for Healthcare Professionals programme. The appointment would be commencing immediately for a 4-year term.

The Return to Practice programme comprises of a single 30 credit module to enable former Nursing NMC registrants an opportunity to complete training to enable re-registration and to re-join the nursing workforce. The successful nominee:

  • Holds current registration with NMC.
  • Has appropriate expertise/experience in nursing ideally with experience of supporting return to practice, and hold a graduate level (FHEQ 6) qualification such as a BSc or Level 6 certificate.
  • Can undertake a paid role in the assurance of academic standards in English Higher Education, is interested in undergraduate education and development and is aware of modern developments in the design and delivery of the flexible curriculum.
  • Does not need to have prior experience as an External Examiner or accreditation with AdvanceHE, although these are desirable. If you have experience, you should not hold more than TWO other UK/Irish External Examiner post at the start of the contract.

An overview of your role and responsibilities includes confirming the comparability of standards of student performance at University of Bradford with those of similar modules at other UK Institutions of Higher Education; confirming that the assessment process in its entirety is sound, and has been fairly conducted with full regard to justice to students; reporting and advising on the above by means of approving coursework and examination papers; and taking part in Examiner Induction, Assessment Committees and Boards of Examiners as appropriate, virtually if necessary.
