The Department of Health Sciences at the University of York is a large and multidisciplinary department, offering a broad range of educational programmes in the health and social care field. We are seeking to appoint an external examiner for the Department’s Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship programme (subject to approval November 2023). There are two routes into the programme currently with an annual March and September start.
The role-holder will be a Registered Nurse and have experience of apprenticeship provision and have responsibility for all modules and have an understanding of the occupational standard and the EPA plan to ensure that all components of the EPA have been met on the programme.
External examiners are required to review and evaluate assessment marking; be a member of the Board of Examiners and attend meetings; comment and give advice on programme content, balance and structure; and to complete an annual report as part of the University of York’s quality assurance mechanisms. The University requires external examiners to attend a minimum of one Board of Examiners meeting per year. Boards of examiners are currently online but an expectation is one visit to meet staff and students a year, and to visit online platforms to be arranged with the programme team.
All appointments are subject to meeting the University’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners.
The successful applicant would be appointed with effect from March 2023 for a term of four academic years.
