External Examiner – Practice Certificate in Independent Prescribing (NMC route only)

The University of Birmingham School of Nursing and Midwifery is seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified External Examiner for the Practice Certificate in Independent Prescribing.

This multi-professional, 40 credit, level 7 course is delivered by the School of Pharmacy and has a multi- professional teaching team, including the academic team within the School of Nursing and Midwifery who support the Nursing and Midwifery Council registered students on the course.

The external examiner will be responsible for the external review of draft assessments/examination papers and the scrutiny of nursing and midwifery student work samples following internal marking and moderation. External examiners will also be required to attend the biannual Board of Examiners meetings and will be required to submit an annual report.

The term of office will be for four academic years commencing with effect from September 2022 and applications are invited from Senior Lecturers, or above, with a recordable teaching qualification. Applicants will also be registered with the NMC and hold an Independent Prescribing qualification.

Previous experience as an external examiner would be an advantage, however the University would be able to support candidates new to the role. All newly appointed external examiners are invited to the University’s annual induction event.

The post will commence in September 2022. The University appoints all external examiners to a standard term of 4 years. Closing date for applications: 31st May 2022
