Plymouth Marjon University* is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the MSc Pre-registration Nursing Degree Apprenticeship programme which is scheduled to start in May 2024.
This appointment will commence with immediate effect on approval and will end on 31st December 2027.
About the programme
This two-year postgraduate degree programme has been developed for individuals who hold an undergraduate degree (achieving a classification of 2:2 or above) and aspire to advance their careers in the field of nursing. The programme is designed to prepare students for eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities / Mental Health / Adult).
Structured with a comprehensive array of both theoretical and practice-based learning modules, students will embark on a journey to cultivate their expertise, skills, and professional conduct, thereby evolving into healthcare leaders and pioneers. This transformation will empower them to proficiently coordinate and administer high-quality, safe, person-centred care in accordance with the NMC (2018) Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses.
About the role
The External Examiner would be expected to engage with the provision virtually and, where appropriate, in person and submit both an interim and standard report on an annual basis. A fee is payable in line with sector norms, along with reasonable expenses.
All prospective External Examiners will need to be registered with the NMC. Recent External Examiner experience is desirable, although the University will provide a mentor for first-time External Examiners. In addition, all new External Examiners will be invited to an annual induction event (online). The full criteria for the appointment of External Examiners are set out in section 4 of the University’s Handbook for External Examiners, which can be accessed at https://www.marjon.ac.uk/about-marjon/institutional-documents/external-examination.
