External Examiner – MSc & PG Cert Safeguarding: Leading Safer Organisations

The School of Health and Social Care at the University of Lincoln is looking to appoint an external examiner for its innovative new course in the post-graduate portfolio. The programme aims to help leaders develop and implement the skills needed to introduce safe practices and cultures that seek to protect those who are at risk, as well as equip businesses with the processes to protect against allegations, should they occur.

The University of Lincoln has developed this course in collaboration with a range of key organisations including the Church of England, the Methodist Church of Great Britain, The Princes Trust, Save the Children, ActionAid International, and Lincolnshire County Council.

The appointments will commence in September 2023 and is expected to run for four years. External Examiners are required to scrutinise the student experience, our assessment practice and the quality of assessment and feedback. Examiners are also required to attend assessment boards and submit an annual report.

Successful applicants with experience in the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:

  • Senior Social Work, and/or public protection safeguarding
  • Leadership and cultural change
  • Evaluation of safeguarding processes
  • Statutory and Non-statutory safeguarding experience.

  • Relevant and up to date experience and expertise
  • Previous external examiner experience preferred but not essential
